This might be a noob question and I have tried looking at some wiring diagrams, but haven't quite been able to wrap my head around this. On my guitar, I have a stock 2 humbucker, 1 volume, 1 tone set up (EMG-HZ passive pickups). However, I find I rarely use the tone knob and usually just keep it on 10. I would like to change the wiring configuration to allow for each pot to work as an independent volume control for each pickup (as you might find in a guitar with 4 knob set up - minus the tone c...

Im installing EMG solderless pickups to my squier jazzmaster, and having problem with my toggle switch. When i look at diagrams online it seems like all wires from the toggle is independant, which would really easy my work. But now i have 3 cables, two of them are paired to a common point. It isnt marked what is what on the toggle either, and i really need to find the ground. ### [https://imgur.com/a/WAa6y62](https://imgur.com/a/WAa6y62) Hi everyone, Been using my fishman classics with the soldered harness I put together for a while now and one of the pots has just given up. I've seen that it's possible to hook them up using the standard 2V2T EMG solderless system with just one voice but I can't find *anyone* online that has installed the EMG push pull to get the voices working. I tried making my own connector for the push pull (from the diagram below) such that either the white or green outputs are enabled depending on pot p...

I want to wire it so it has 1 volume for both pickups, and potentially move the pickup selector out of the way. Both the pickup switch and bridge volume get in the way of playing. Is this possible and how should I do it? I do know EMG has their wiring diagrams online but I can only find their 1 volume 1 tone diagram. Hey Bass Heads, Some may have seen my post a little back about me getting an EMG wiring kit for my epiphone EBM-4 bass and realizing I got the wrong one. I thought it was an active bass because it had a 9v battery, come to find out that it has passive pickups with a powered preamp. Got on the emailer with EMG, and they have been super helpful in helping me find out what I need. But, now I have options and have no clue which direction to go with. So, if you have any input please chime in! 1. EM... I bought a relatively obscure guitar, a Yamaha RGX-520J. Initially they were only available in Japan. So, this thing comes with two passive EMG "Select" pickups. One of the pickups wasn't working so I thought I'd open it up and see what the problem was. But when I opened it, some wires came undone. Now it's quite a scene. Crime scene. I tried to use this schematic to get things back together: http://www.sonic.net/~emgman/pdf/2%20SELECT%201v%201t%203wt.pdf I think what is confusing is that the... [https://i.imgur.com/b2iOtqy.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/b2iOtqy.jpg[/img]) Hi all, I thought I’d share a post about the work I’ve had done on my 1980 LP Custom, and this seemed like a good place to do it. While this \*technically\* isn't a new guitar, I've made so many upgrades it might as well be - it sure feels like one to me, at any rate. I spent a lot of time learning about guitar components before undertaking this project, as I've always been more of a player than a tinkerer. But than...
Hello friends! I am in the process of replacing the EMG 808s in my Schecter Hellraiser 8 string with Fishman Fluence Stephen carpenter pickups. I followed the included wiring diagram (which is just a boilerplate "modern humbucker style" diagram btw) combined with some instructions online I am using a one master volume and two tone setup, but no success thus far! What happens when I plug in, is I can hear a light buzzing sound and I can tap on each pot individually and hear a tapping noise. If...

I’m completely lost and this is my first attempt installing pickups. I used the wiring diagram on EMGs site but I’m very confused about wiring the three way blade switch. Diagram shows 4 wires, ground, output, bridge, neck going to the buss. I have a green and two black wires, when spliced showing a white and ground within each. I have no idea how to connect this properly and my first attempt was an abysmal failure. Can anyone please point me in the right direction? https://i.imgur.com/yIKTju...

Dear axers and builders. I'm in the process of completely overhauling a fake fender stratocaster, I salvaged the body and the rest gets replaced with what I have laying around/order new. I have 2 single coil Levinson Blade RH4 pickups (leftover from my stolen RH4). While these are passive, they are designed to work with the active VSC boost the Blades came with originally. (EQ). So, with that in mind I went searching for a humbucker pickup that has an active EQ boost and stumbled upon the EMG...
23.02.2013 · EMG, among others, started to offer active pickups in the late 70s. The advantage of the active pickups was that they shielded the guitar from the huge stadium light rigs and they could also drive the guitar signal through long cables and big effect racks. The down side, and what made many go back to the passive, vintage style single coils, was ...

Hey! I'll preface this by saying this is my first time posting on Reddit. This is also my first time wiring a guitar, so I have no knowledge of conventions / nomenclature; I apologise in advance! Also my soldering sucks. Anyway, as mentioned, I am attempting to wire two active EMG Humbuckers, - an EMG 60 in the neck, and an EMG 81 in the bridge - with a passive Ibanez INFS3 single coil in the middle position. I suspect I have bitten off more than I can chew... The guitar has an import type 5 way...
Hey all. I'm *sure* this is a question that's been asked beefier but I'm struggling to find any answers that fit my exact scenario and my electrical wiring knowledge isn't good enough to extrapolate from wiring diagrams I've found. So. I've got a 5-string Epiphone Thunderbird. It has the tuning knobs, the bridge, and two EMG-35HZs (active humbucker pickups, apologies if this is common knowledge here - it's all news to me). I still need to buy pots, a battery holder, and a jack. Most importantly...

If the cable is too long, wind up the excess and keep it under the pickup or in the control cavity if possible.
First post removed as spam, thank you bots... I'm using the EMG J5 kit, active pickups with Volume/Volume/Tone controls. I'm looking to incorporate a 4th pot to control an onboard fuzz, and wondering where and how to wire that in. I've consulted every wiring diagram on EMG's site, and the green section of the buss seems to be exclusively used for a selector switch. And instead of a selector switch, I first considered putting the fuzz here - join the Neck/Bridge signals into the Fuzz input, and...
I've just wired a SD blackout that I had spare into a guitar. I used the wiring diagram for a single Blackout on the SD website using the original pot, battery connector and jack that came with the pickup in the guitar that it was originally in. I don't know if microphonic is the best way to describe it but it's like my entire guitar is a pickup, it amplifies literally everything on the guitar e.g if you tap very lightly on the body it comes through very loud and clear. I don't remember this bei...

EMG Pickups like the EMG-S, EMG-SA, and the EMG-60 use this technique to its fullest, while the EMG-81 uses modeling in only a small way. Modeling might work well for a single coil pickup, but not for a design such as the EMG-ACS Acoustic Sound Hole Pickup. As each pickup design is approached differently, it all depends on the final result we're searching for.
Hi, I play metal (as a reference: melodic death metal like Children of Bodom) and I need some advice. I have a nice Ltd F-4e (4 strings, 35" scale) with passive ESP designed pickups and ESP 3 band active EQ. A total of 5 pots, including volume and balance. It has a nice sound (both amplified and acoustically) but it doesn't have much output, even when the active EQ is engaged and it has some noise, especially with distortion or when high mids and treble are pumped with the Darkglass VST or an...

So I'm trying to replace the humbuckers on my HSH guitar with another set, because I didn't really like the neck humbucker and it was also not coil-splittable. The bridge humbucker is currently coil-splittable via push-pull pot and is noise cancelling in the 4 position with the middle single coil. A slight complication here is the fact that both of those humbuckers are the "no polepieces" types, as in they look like active EMG pickups, but they're normal passive ones - so without the polepieces ...
31.03.2012 · This wiring works great with any vintage-output Tele pickups. It’s also great with our Five-Two® for Tele pickups, which session players like Brent Mason and Dean Parks like because they provide great Tele twang, but with a slightly tighter, more focused low end. Man, there are just so many great Telecaster wiring options.
